Manufacturer construction information ↗What is dyed film?
Dyed film uses colour within a layered film to darken the glass. SunTek’s dyed charcoal construction, for example, combines polyester, dye and UV blockers. It is an economical category to investigate when appearance is your main goal.
Who should consider it?
Consider a dyed option if you want a simple appearance upgrade and want to keep the initial spend down. Compare its documented solar performance with the carbon or ceramic alternatives in your quote.
What is the trade-off?
Do not assume a dark look gives premium heat control. Equally, do not assume every dyed film will turn purple: product construction and written colour-stability cover differ. Ask exactly which product you are buying.
