Start with the room that bothers you

Tell us when the room becomes uncomfortable, which windows receive direct sun and whether keeping a clear outlook is important. A west-facing living room may need a different balance of light and solar control from a bathroom or a street-facing bedroom.

Balance comfort and natural light

Visible light transmission describes how much visible light passes through glazing. Lower VLT generally means a darker appearance. Solar performance is a separate consideration. Compare the actual product data and view samples on the glass before deciding.

Daytime privacy has limits

Reflective film relies on differences in lighting between the two sides of the glass. At night, when the room is brighter than outdoors, the privacy effect can diminish or reverse. For privacy regardless of lighting, consider an obscuring finish or combine film with blinds.

Glass compatibility comes first

Film selection must account for the glass type, existing coatings, glazing construction, shading and condition. Double glazing and some coated or laminated glass need a product-specific compatibility check. Do not assume that every film suits every window.

Preparing for a measure and quote

Share your suburb, the approximate number of panes, rooms involved and photos taken from a safe position. Rough dimensions can help with initial scoping. Final area, access and glass suitability need confirmation before installation.

A clear written scope

Your quote should identify the film, panes included, preparation, access requirements, price and applicable warranty. Product specifications and coverage should be confirmed in writing.

Check product-specific information

Use the actual manufacturer’s current data and application guidance. These official resources explain why product and glass selection matter.
